Matt joined the Footsmart Podiatry team in August 2026 after five years of clinical practice. He enjoys working alongside patients as they recover from injury, improve their mobility, and achieve their personal goals. Seeing patients regain their independence and confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of his role.
Special Interests in Sports Podiatry and Rehabilitation
Matt has a strong interest in biomechanics, sports podiatry, and post-operative foot and ankle rehabilitation. He takes the time to understand how each patient’s body moves before developing an individual treatment plan.
His approach focuses on identifying the underlying cause of pain rather than simply treating the symptoms. Whether you’re recovering from surgery, managing a sporting injury, or experiencing ongoing foot pain, Matt works with you to achieve long-term results.

A Passion for Movement and Footwear
Before becoming a podiatrist, Matt spent many years working in the bushwalking industry. During this time, he developed extensive knowledge of footwear, foot comfort, and the demands outdoor activities place on the feet.
He still enjoys fitting bushwalking boots every few months, allowing him to combine his professional expertise with one of his long-standing interests.
Matt’s personal interests include mountain biking, bushwalking, and rock climbing. These hobbies give him first-hand insight into the challenges active people face with foot and lower limb injuries.
Life on the Sunshine Coast
Originally from Chicago, Matt moved to Brisbane in 2003 before making a sea change to the Sunshine Coast with his wife and two children. Joining Footsmart Podiatry gave him the opportunity to combine his passion for podiatry with the active coastal lifestyle his family enjoys.
When he isn’t treating patients, Matt enjoys designing and sewing his own bushwalking packs and custom bike bags. His creative hobby reflects the same practical and problem-solving mindset he brings to his clinical work.
